Helping Northwest Farmers Grow The Perfect Potato
The past couple of years have been challenging for the potato industry, but many of those challenges have come despite great growing conditions. But if there’s anything Northwest growers know about Mother Nature; there’s no guarantee she will cooperate. And if she’s unkind that can lead to a host of disease and pest pressures.
Erick Garcia, Product Manger with BASF said this just makes the goal of growing the perfect potato even more challenging.
“Not only that, but it's an environment full of tight margins," Garcia said. "And so as we get that demand and pressure, one of the things people always talk about is what can I use to combat diseases in my field, right? Again, trying to grow the perfect potato, unknown weather, tight margins, what are some of the products I can use on my field to perfect those potatoes?”
Protect Your Spuds And Your Bottom Line
Garcia said to help potato growers in the Pacific Northwest, they have Endura Pro, a fungicide built to combat and control diseases such as early blight, white mold, brown spot, and others.
“What makes Endura Pro uniquely formulated and built to address those challenges is the fact that it's a premix of two fungicides," Garcia said. "The first being Endura, which is a group 7 fungicide, and Revasol, which is our group 3 fungicide. And so with Endura, you are getting that proven white mold performance, and Revasol is bringing long-lasting, broad-spectrum disease control. So by combining those two, we have a product here that is well situated to address the challenges and diseases that potato growers in the PNW face.”
Production Increased From 2025
One of the few drawbacks Garcia noted from 2025, the first year Endura Pro was available, was it’s popularity, running out of product. He noted in year two of Endura Pro, they have increased production, so there should be enough to meet the needs of growers across the region.
