2019 has been anything but a typical year when it comes to fuel prices.  The price for a barrel moved very little as we started the drive season, but when we transitioned into mid-June, oil price shot up, pushing fuel prices higher just in time for the 4th of July holiday.  Allison Mac with GasBuddy.com says the recent increase is thanks mainly to Iran.  And while OPEC has been quiet of recent, she said investors are keeping an eye on the organization and how they could impact prices.

“You know they really have a strong hold on where prices are.  If they decide to hold back, we’ll really see an impact there.  So, like the geopolitical issues that we are seeing that’s really having a huge impact on consumers and drivers across the U.S.”

The national average for a gallon of diesel increased slightly in the past week to $3.01, while Washington's average held at $3.31, and Oregon’s price held steady as well at $3.20 a gallon.  As far as the lowest diesel prices we could find across the Inland Northwest:

  • $3.05 a gallon in the Tri-Cities
  • $3.13 a gallon in Wenatchee
  • $3.39 a gallon in Ephrata
  • $2.99 a gallon in Quincy
  • $2.97 a gallon in Pendleton
  • $3.19 a gallon in Moses Lake
  • $3.21 a gallon in Walla Walla
  • $2.99 a gallon in Yakima
