Future of U.S. Beef in China
USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue and U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstead were in Beijing celebrating the first U.S. beef to come into China in several years.
At a public event, Branstead said he was very optimistic.
“We already sell a lot of soybeans and a lot of pork, but I think with a growing middle class, beef is going to be a big hit.
The event served prime rib from the U.S.
Perdue praised and thanked American cattle producers for all their hard work.
“I am convinced when our Chinese friends taste this tasty, wholesome, healthy, safe U.S. beef, they’re going to want more of it, so you all better get some more cows.”
The U.S. is the world’s largest beef producer and fourth largest beef exporter.
