Fuel Prices Remain High In West, But Not For The Reason You Think

Fuel prices typically fall this time of year, for both gasoline and diesel. However, the Northwest has not seen that drop due to a variety of issues. Mostly recently the rupture of a Canadian pipeline has kept prices higher in the west. Also, fear are growing that oil pirces will move higher, not only due to next month’s sanctions against Iran, but potential action agsinst Saudi Arabia because of the death of a Washington Post reporter.

“Certainly we saw sanctions pressure under President Obama and the price pressure that did hit us at the pump, and we’ll likely see that again this time,” said GasBuddy.com’s Patrick DeHaan

On top of those sanction concerns, DeHaan said many experts are concerned about the overall health of the global economy.

“There’s been more concern about economic slowdown across the globe due to President Trump’s trade battles that are ongoing, so there are some pressures on each side, and at least for now, we will likely see gas prices and diesel prices may show some signs of relief in Washington.”
