Fuel Prices May Decrease In The Coming Weeks

Fuel prices across the Northwest increased again, but that trend may be coming to an end soon. Latest figures show the national average for a gallon of diesel held at $3.21, while Washington increased two cents to $3.58 a gallon, and Oregon rate moved higher by one cent to $3.42.

Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com said there is signs of relief on the horizon. He said crude oil prices have either plateaued, or started to decrease depending on the type. DeHaan said that should start to impact our price at the pump in the coming weeks. In addition, he says relief may come from OPEC, in one of two ways.

“Increase production or actually increase production by bringing down compliance with their 2017 production cuts. So, all of the rumors are that we may see more oil flowing from OPEC members to meet strong global demand.”
