Greg Sanders with the USDA’s Livestock Grain and Poultry Market News Office in Moses Lake, WA, said last week, the Washington sale barns had 1,018 head of cattle traded.

"Compared to last week, stocker and feeder cattle were weak in a light test," Sanders said.  "Feeder cattle futures traded lower with contrast closing 12-3.25 lower.  The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $1.14 lower on October 7th at $336.73.  Slaughter cows were weak to eight lower, slaughter bulls were firm in a light test.  Feeder steers, medium, large frames one and twos, 600-650 pounds sold for $375.  Heifers, medium and large frame one and twos, weighing 500-550 pounds sold for $385.  Slaughter cows on the boning utility, sold from $145-$149, and slaughter bulls yield grade one and two sold from $184-$194."
