The USDA has extended the comment period for the Farmer Fair Practice Rules.

National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson was disappointed by the move.

“Family farmers and ranchers have been waiting on the protections provided by the Farmer Fair Practices Rules for far too long, enduring heavily concentrated markets and the unfair practices associated with lack of competition.”

The delay did receive praise from the National Pork Producers Council who opposes the current set of rules.
