The Lind Field Day gets underway Thursday morning at the Washington State University Dryland Research Station.  WSU research agronomist Bill Schillinger told the Washington Ag Network this year’s field day will have several exciting addition to stander conversations about wheat varieties.  He said one of the crops to be discussed, winter pea.

"Which is truly a promising new crop in this dryland region. We've had six years of excellent results with winter pea"

Schillinger said Falling Numbers will also be discussed during Thursday’s field day.  He says the issue cost the local wheat industry millions of dollars last year.

"Dr. Camille Steber from USDA ARS will be addressing that.  And that's her mission at the Field Day to put this in prospective for growers."

The Lind Field Day begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the field tour starting at 9 a.m.  A complimentary lunch and program will follow the field tour.  Washington pesticide credits have been requested.
