The first day of spring is within sight, falling on Saturday March 20th. Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service said while many farmers would like to see warmer temperatures and additional sunshine in the coming days, she does not expect it. She noted this week will wrap up very nicely for mid-March, with highs in the low to mid-60s.

But enjoy it while you can.

“A very strong cold front expected to move through again during the weekend, and bring strong winds and much cooler temperatures back into the region with highs only in the 40s again early next week.”

Lohman said after the cold front moves through early next week, temperatures will slowly start to warm, and the area can expect a more showery pattern.
