The Washington Department of Ecology has issued a Stage 1 burn ban for Okanogan County, which runs through, 4 p.m. Friday.  However, DOE notes the ban can be extended beyond that if conditions don’t improved.  The ban was issued because of poor air quality and light winds.  Under a Stage 1 ban, all outdoor burning is prohibited including residential, agricultural and forest burning.

Use of uncertified wood stoves, fireplaces, inserts, and other uncertified wood-burning devices is prohibited unless they are a home’s only adequate source of heat.
