For the Idaho Dairy industry 2025 has been a bit of a roller coaster, and we haven’t made it to the halfway mark yet.  Rick Naerebout, CEO of the Idaho Dairymen’s Association, said much of the turbulence has been thanks to milk prices that have been on the move much of the year.

“You know tariffs have had its place in adding some volatility to our markets. But really from an Idaho dairyman’s perspective right now. We're sitting a bit above break even," Naerebout said.  "So, when you look at, you know both milk value and the value that beef brings to the revenue stream for a dairy producer right now, we 're a bit about break evens and so we're doing, we're doing OK.”

The Future Looks Good For Idaho Dairy

Naerebout acknowledged while producers may not be reporting stellar margins, he’s still optimistic about the future.

“Our guys are keeping their head above water and it feels, a little bit bullish right now in the dairy industry," Naerebout added.
