Monday, April 4th, was when sign up got underway for landowners wishing to enroll acreage under USDA's Grassland's Conservation Reserve Program.

"Those sign ups for Grassland CRP is going to be to May 13th," noted FSA Deputy Administrator Scott Marlow. HE said the program had its highest enrollment history last year. He adds improvements for this current sign up are designed to encourage greater participation.

"We've got a new 5% climate smart practice incentive that are becoming through,  we've also had the establishment of 2 new grassland CRP national priority zones that are providing in additional $5 per acre.  More than half your land is again those priorities zones."

In addition, historically underserved landowners and producers, such as beginning or socially disadvantaged farmers or veterans, will receive 10 additional ranking points for their applications.
