Corn growers are starting to plant, or at the very least planning their spring as the weather has turned nice.

USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey said things are progressing as you would expect.

“Overall national progress passing the one-third mark to reach 34 percent by the end of April. That’s equal to the five-year average but slightly behind last year’s 43 percent.”

In the Northwest, planting is generally behind where it was last year, but planting has begun in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. In fact, some areas are up to two weeks behind last year.
