Work continues on the Idaho Wheat Commission’s new home in Boise.  The new office building, being constructed on the site of the old Commission office at 9th and State streets, is going vertical, providing the Commission roughly twice as much square footage.  Britany Hurst Marchant, Executive Director of the Idaho Wheat Commission says when they purchased their downtown Boise lot, which she called a prime location, back in 2003, it was done as an investment for wheat growers statewide.

“To amplify their voice through legislative means with lawmakers and just elevate the image of the Idaho wheat farmer," Hurst Marchant said.  "This new building will be a return on investment because there is additional space.  We can bring in more commodities, more Ag policy groups, other state agencies to lease office space from us. And that will be a return on investment for growers and also for the wheat commission.”

Hurst Marchant noted when the old building started showing signs of wear and tear, they conducted research to determine the most cost-effective course of action.  And ultimately, the Commission voted to build a new building.

“We've been very conscientious of the fact that those are grower dollars and that we need to make sure that that building benefits the grower.”

She noted that construction is on pace for a summer 2026 grand opening.
