Last week, the leaders of the national pork, corn, and soybean check-offs agreed to work together to improve environmental sustainability.  The effort will focus on research.

"We're excited to announce a new collaboration between the National Pork Board, United Soybean Board, and The National Corn Growers Association,” said Bill Evan of the National Pork Board.  “Cooperation between our three check off organizations on sustainability research directly related to the environmental sustainability indicators of carbon, water use and quality, as well as soil health."

Evan announced the memorandum of understanding last week in Kansas City.

"We're entering a new era of collaboration between National check off associations,” Evan continued.  “They all realize the importance of moving forward aggressively on sustainability, but they also realize their obligation to spend check off dollars wisely through partnerships such as this."]

Evan added this agreement could be a model for other commodity organizations and check off programs to collaborate on.
