Chobani Buys Plant-Based Food Maker Daily Harvest
Last week, Chobani announced the purchase of plant-based food maker Daily Harvest. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2015, Daily Harvest became one of the first companies shipping clean, nutritious food directly to customers. Over that time, Daily Harvest has expanded their portfolio to include meals and snacks, pushing the brand to a $1.1B valuation in 2021.
Chobani said its goal is to use its manufacturing, distribution, and retail expertise to get Daily Harvest into more U.S. homes. The deal marks Chobani’s second major acquisition in less than two years, following its acquisition of coffee company La Colombe for $900 million in 2023.
Chobani has had a large presence here in the Northwest, since opened its Twin Falls facility in December 2012. Earlier this year, Chobani announced a 500,000 square foot expansion of that plant, which company officials say will increase production by 50%, employing more than 1,200 people.
