Consistent rains in Brazil could produce a robust corn crop and potentially impact corn producers in the U.S.

USDA Meteorologist Mark Brusberg said things are looking really good in Brazil where they’re already harvesting in many areas.

“This year they were able to plant the soybeans a lot earlier than last year so the crop has been made already in a lot of areas. Now it’s a question of are they going to be able to get it out and get the corn in in a timely manner so that second crop has a chance to enjoy the rest of the rainy season. That’s the big issue in Brazil so we’re looking at a very large crop.”

USDA is projecting the Brazil corn crop to jump by 29 percent from 2016.
