Asparagus season is upon us and it looks like there’s going to be a lot of good quality that is available.

But how to cook it? Julie Garden-Robinson of North Dakota State University Extension said first is picking up good asparagus.

“Look for asparagus that’s of the characteristic color, green maybe purplish. The tips should be compact. To prepare it, simply rinse it under running water and trim the ends.”

Garden-Robinson said then if you want the best flavor, you can choose between roasting and grilling.

“Roasting: you just preheat the oven to 425 degrees, prepare it as directed and then put it in an oven safe pan, drizzle with some cooking oil that you like and some seasonings. Bake it until tender, about 12-15 minutes. If you like to grill, preheat your grill, place your prepared asparagus on the grill or in a grill basket and then grill about three minutes to the tenderness that you like.”
