The Better Business Bureau is warning all of us with phone, either landlines or cell phones, to be aware of the latest scam making the rounds.  Kirstin Davis with the Better Business Bureau told the Washington Ag Network it starts off when you answer, and the person on the other line will ask you if you can hear them.  As soon as you respond, the scammer has a recording of your voice, saying yes.  From there, the scammers use the recording to authorize withdrawals from bank accounts, the creation of credit cards and most.  Davis said consumers shouldn’t live in fear, but should use common sense.

“If it’s a number that you do not recognize that is not coming from someone you know, or a number that you absolutely know, just don’t answer it, let it go to voicemail.  If it’s someone who need to get a hold of you, they will leave you a message.”

Davis says it you can, write down the phone number from where the scam originated, and then report that to the Better Business Bureau.
