Time is running out for the Washington Ag community to apply for AgForestry Leadership’s upcoming class. Application deadline for Class #43 is April 30th with interviews set to start in early June. The two year class involves 11 in-state seminars, which cover a variety of topics from leadership to social issues, state government and even working with the media, as well as a one week trip to Washington D.C.

Brian Baumann, an Adams County farmer participated in Class #38. He said participating in AgForestry Leadership allows producers of all sizes to better advocate for farming. He added it’s served as a great spring board for the careers of rural politicians across Washington.

“You know, AgForestry may have been that little boost that they needed to take the next step, to throw their hat in the ring and then be elected.”

Baumann added while there is a time and finical commitment, he’s yet to talk with someone who regretted participating in an AgForestry class.
