USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue along with a congressional delegation met with members of the ag community at the Delaware State Fair.

Perdue was pleased with the meetings.

“We heard great suggestions from them. They had questions about how we could do things better. They were telling us things we were doing well.”

Along on the trip was U.S. Senator Chris Coons, who’s on the Appropriations Committee, said they were able to discuss their markup of the appropriations bill.

“I think we made good and positive progress in saving important programs that we talked about upstairs, that we talked about from Delawarians on like farm insurance and crop insurance.”

There were also concerns expressed about export promotions and agriculture research.
