AAA: Prepare For Highest Fuel Prices Since 2014

Fuel prices for this time of year are fairly high across the Inland Northwest. According to AAA, the price for a barrel of oil has hovered between $60 and $64 since the start of the year. AAA’s Marie Dodds said the improving economy is pushing fuel prices higher across the board.

“People are feeling good about their personal economic situation, we’re seeing spending across the board on things like travel and vacations and of course we use a lot of gasoline and diesel for those kinds of things.”

Right now the average price for a gallon of diesel nationwide is $2.94 down one cent in the past week. Oregon’s average is hovering around $3.07 a gallon, an increase of one cent a gallon, while Washington’s prices is unchanged at $3.17. Dodds added regardless what you drive this spring and summer, prepare to shell out more for fuel prices this spring and summer.

“We will pay more than the last couple of years, but probably not as bad as the year 2014, we had some very high prices then.”
