Congratulations to Yakima Valley Vintners the winner of several awards at the 2020 Seattle Wine Competition. Yakima Valley College’s teaching winery, was awarded double gold for their 2018 Research Paper Roussanne, as well as gold medals for the The 2019 Easy A Chardonnay and 2017 Dean’s List Reserve Tempranillo.

The Seattle Wine Competition is considered the state's most prestigious wine awards program. In April, Washington's most prominent wine professionals gather at Seattle's historic Rainier Club to taste and evaluate white, red, sweet, sparkling and rosé wines produced from Washington grapes. This esteemed group includes respected wine directors, buyers, distributors, educators and Seattle’s top sommeliers. The top wines are recognized with Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze Grand Awards of Excellence.

On top of that Yakima Valley Vintners also brought home gold medals for both the 2017 Late Registration Petit Verdot and 2017 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Primitivo  at the Cascadia International Wine Competition.

YVC’s hands-on learning program produces between 400-700 cases of wine per year. Produced by the students of the Vineyard & Winery Technology Program, the college’s award-winning wines have garnered more than 149 awards over the last ten vintages.

All wines submitted in the Seattle Wine Competition and Cascadia International Wine Competition were judged blindly by a panel of prominent wine professionals. YVC student wines were judged alongside those produced by commercial wineries during the competition.
