Applications are now open for the Veterinary Technology Program at Yakima Valley College, with the next cohort beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.

YVC says the program leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree and provides hands-on experience working with a variety of animals.  Graduates are prepared to take both national and state board exams required to become a licensed veterinary technician.

“The patients and pets we worked with at the Humane Society gave us meaningful, real-world experience with live patients for us to learn from,” noted alumni Gabriela Magallon.

According to labor market data from Lightcast, the average salary for veterinary technicians in Washington is $60,472 annually, while Oregon's average salary is in the high $50,000 range, while Idaho's pay is in the mid $40,000 range.

Students interested in the two-year program have until May 1st to apply.  To learn more or apply call (509) 574-4674 or E-mail.
