As cherries continue to ripen across the Inland Northwest, Washington State University is warning growers to be on the lookout of Spotted Wing Drosophila.  According to WSU’s Tree Fruit Research Center in Wenatchee, Spotted Wing Drosophila has started to appear in monitoring traps.  The impacted areas include Brays Landing and Spanish Castle in North Central Washington.  WSU said numbers at this point are low, averaging fewer than three per positive trap.  But researchers say this shows Spotted Wing Drosophila is on the move.
