The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says the western Oregon wolf pack for OR-7 has killed another cow.  ODFW said the Rogue Pack killed the cow in northeastern Jackson County.  The carcass was found over the weekend, marking the seventh livestock kill attributed to the pack since October 2017.  According to the ODFW report, extensive feeding was discovered on the hindquarters and internal organs, but the carcass and hide were largely intact, the report states.

Tooth scrapes and bite marks were found on the hind legs and multiple deep bites on the neck, the report states.  Along with other evidence, the biologist concluded the wounds and muscle trauma “are clear signs of predator attack and the size, number and location of the bite injuries are similar to injuries observed in calves attacked by wolves,” the report states.

This pack was also responsible for a cow kill in November as well as the death of a guard dog.  Wolves in Western Oregon are managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
