WDFW Authorizes Lethal Action Against Sherman Pack

Director of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Jim Unsworth has authorized the killing of members of the Sherman wolf pack in Ferry County that has repeatedly preyed on livestock.

The pack, which numbers between two and five members, has killed three calves and injured another over the past two months.

WDFW says the rancher that lost the livestock had implemented a variety of non-lethal measures to deter wolves, but still had multiple depredations.

Donny Martorello, WDFW's lead wolf manager said the situation also meets the department's condition for lethal action that predation by a wolf pack occur three times in a 30-day period or four times in a 10-month period.
