Washington Council on International Trade plans on hosting the Honorable Liam Fox, U.K. Secretary of State for International Trade, for a discussion on trade between the U.S. and a post Brexit U.K.  The meeting will take place in Seattle Wednesday, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Fox is expected not only to discuss U.S.-U.K. trade and investment relationship, but also possible UK-US free trade negotiations, and a host of other issues.

Washington enjoys strategic trade relationships with countries around the globe, each contributing to the competitiveness of Washington businesses, a fact sometimes overlooked amidst ongoing negotiations on NAFTA and an escalating trade dispute with China.  WCIT said the United Kingdom is one of Washington state’s most important trading partners, largest foreign employer and a key global ally, making this event critically important for Pacific Northwest businesses.

“It’s WCIT’s job – through insights and actions – to help Washington companies of all sizes succeed in today’s global marketplace,” said Lori Otto Punke, president of WCIT. “We’re honored that Secretary Fox is choosing to share his insights with Washington business leaders, proving importance of trading relationship between the U.K. and Washington state.”
