Late last week, the Washington Farm Bureau announced its encodement of Dr. Kim Schrier to represent Washington’s 8th Congressional district.

"I am deeply honored to have earned the endorsement of the Washington Farm Bureau," Schrier noted. "As chair of the Farm Bill task force, I have an integral role in shaping the upcoming Farm Bill and have been laser-focused on several key priorities for the Eighth District. These include securing funding for specialty crop research facilities, enhancing nutrition programs, expanding conservation programs, and bolstering our forest resiliency and fire suppression efforts. Right now, Washington farmers are facing unprecedented challenges, from supply chain issues to unpredictable and extreme weather. After three terms representing Washington farmers, they know who has had their backs and will continue to go to bat for them in Congress. I will continue to work hard on their behalf and hope to continue to earn their support.”

Congresswoman Schrier was named Chair of the New Democrat Coalition’s Farm Bill Task Force, which gives her an integral role in shaping the Farm Bill.  As Chair, Representative Schrier said she will elevate the priorities of nearly 100 members of Congress, and use that leverage to craft a bill that champions the needs of Washington farmers.

Congresswoman Schrier has held several Farm Bill listening sessions to learn about the top priorities for Washington farmers and producers.
