Summer is roughly four weeks old, but many are wondering when the summer weather will hit the area.  Specifically the summer heat that growers depend on.

National Weather Service meteorologist Marilyn Lohmann said while temperatures across the Northwest have felt cool, much of the area is on target for this time of year.  She added irrigation usage has been low for mid-July, thanks to not only to temperatures but also the high humidity for this time of year.

“It hasn’t been quite as bad those days where we actually feel the relative humidity, but I think they have helped a bit on that crop water use.  But we’ll probably see that start to change as we head into the end of the week, and through the weekend, and especially early next week.”

Lohmann said that should change next week, with a ridge of High pressure developing over the four-corners region, which should hold storms at bay here in the Northwest.  That mean, Lohmann said we’ll see temperatures in the low to mid-90s early next week, with even warmer weather on the way.
