The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance says growers in the area experienced a near textbook set of harvest metrics despite winter snows and freezing temperatures according to results of a survey.

Part of the credit goes to a mild October which allowed for extended hang time on varieties such as cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc.

The survey showed the growers experienced normal harvest dates and average yield for most vineyards that there was high acids and low pH that some growers note could make for very age-worthy wines.

The survey was conducted by the alliance of their member vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley American Viticulture Area.
