The Washington Apple Education Foundation celebrated their volunteers of the year last week at a dinner in Quincy at Cave B Winery.

Ruth Velasco Ortiz was named the Alumni Volunteer of the Year. Ortiz was a WAEF scholarship recipient during her time at UW and has been giving back to the new generation of WAEF scholarship recipients.

The Individual Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Colleen Malmassari who was honored in part for her work in the summer workshops that are held for each of the scholarship recipients.

The group also recognized Northwest Farm Credit Services as the Volunteer Company or Group of the year which had several employees volunteer their time to WAEF over the past year.

The Washington Apple Education Foundation has more than 200 volunteers currently helping young people succeed.
