Participating in SNAP, or ordering SNAP foods on-line isn’t new, it’s a service that’s been available for a while.  Deputy Under Secretary for Food Nutrition and Consumer Services Stacy Dean said the USDA program has grown very rapidly.

“In March of 2020 we had about 30,000 SNAP participants redeeming benefits online through a pilot we were operating at the time.  Now there are four million households who are able to shop online.”

Now a proposed rule intends to change details within the WIC program to also allow for online ordering.  Among the modifications removing requirements for cashiers to be present to complete with transactions add research into approved transaction technologies like mobile ordering.  The USDA will accept public comment on the rule through May 24thClick Here to share your thoughts.
