Congratulations to University of Idaho professor and UI Extension dairy specialist Joseph Dalton, winner of the 2024 DeLaval Dairy Extension Award.  This award, presented by the American Dairy Science Association earlier this year, recognizes outstanding achievement in dairy extension.  According to the ADSA, he winner must have made a valuable and noteworthy contribution to the dairy industry through dairy extension in the broad areas of production, manufacturing, marketing, and youth work; be active in dairy extension when nominated and have at least 10 years of dairy extension work with an educational or public institution; and have been a member of ADSA for at least five successive years. 

 

Dalton’s research and extension program focuses on factors important to increasing dairy cattle fertility.  Dalton has given presentations and worked with veterinarians, technicians, students and farmers throughout North and South America, Mexico, Europe and Asia
