The Old Farmer’s Almanac “Has Something For Everybody”
If you’re looking for a Christmas gift for that hard to shop for farmer, but you don’t want to buy a tractor, and you’re not sure what fertilizer they use...might we recommend The Old Farmer’s Almanac. Tim Goodwin, Assistant Editor at the Old Farmer’s Almanac, said most Americans have a memory or two of growing up with the Almanac, and the publication which as been around for over 230 years, mean different things to different people.
“We strive to be what Robert B. Thomas, our founder, stated, ‘Useful with a pleasant degree of humor’. We want to be a book that somebody can pick up at any point during the year and learn something new, whether it's what to see in the night sky that month, or when the sun is going to rise the next day. We’re filled with great features in things like gardening and farming; we've got great recipes in there. So, it's got a little bit of everything.”
One of the things The Old Farmer’s Almanac is known for is weather forecasts. Under this La Nina Goodwin says the Northwest will see milder, and wetter weather than normal. He noted the region will not be free from the occasional cold snap, which he expects in late January.
“Precipitation will be above normal this year, we’re definitely looking for, quite a bit of precipitation in January and then also into March.”
