Idaho Sugarbeet Harvest Slightly Behind Normal
As sugarbeet harvest continues, as of Sunday September 28th, 15% of the crop has been harvested nationwide. USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey noted that number is two points behind the five-year average, but equal to the number we saw this time last year.
"Very even harvest progress across the four major production states, ranging from 13% in Idaho and Michigan up to 18% in North Dakota,” Rippey said.
Idaho’s 13% is one point off the number we saw this time last year, but well off the five-year-average of 18%. NASS indicates Idaho farmers have enjoyed favorable weather for sugarbeet harvest, and that is expected to continue for the immediate future.
