Prices at the diesel pump edged up slightly in the past week.  According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of diesel nationwide increased two cents in the past week to $2.41, while Washington’s average increased one cent this week to $2.72, and Oregon’s average ticked up one cent to $2.54.  Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com said the storms battering the Northwest coast has impacted fuel prices, primarily gasoline prices over the past couple of weeks.

“Diesel prices, however, probably will just continue their normal, or the trend that we saw in the last week, a gentle upward streak.  Maybe a few more pennies for the price of diesel.  But those filling up with gasoline are likely to face a bit of a spike at the pump in the coming weeks.”

DeHaan said oil prices could move higher in the coming weeks, with OPEC set to  meet next week to discuss cutting production.  He said if production is cut, prices will increase slightly.  However, if production is not changed, DeHaan predicts oil prices could rocket up.

Here are some of the lowest diesel prices we could find across the Inland Northwest:

  • $2.55 a gallon in the Tri Cities
  • $2.59 a gallon in Yakima
  • $2.64 a gallon in Wenatchee
  • $2.65 a gallon in Quincy
  • $2.69 a gallon in Walla Walla
