The Clore Center in Prosser will be unveiling a state of Walter Clore at a public event on Saturday, November 12.

Executive Director Abbey Cameron said the bronze statue will be about eight-and-a-half feet tall and be looking out over the Horse Heaven Hills where much of Clore’s work was done.

“He was a very down-to-earth, humble guy who liked nothing more than to talk about wine grapes and get into vineyard and see what was going on.”

Cameron hopes that people see the energy and passion for wine when they look at the statue of Clore.

The project began in 2003 and was spearheaded by members of the Prosser Rotary as a way to celebrate his legacy, something Cameron said continues throughout Washington.

“He lived in this place, he worked in this place. The fruit of his efforts expand beyond Prosser and throughout the state and have had a big impact but in a very organic way from someone who was just passionate about what he was doing.”

The Clore Center opens at 11, but is inviting people to show up around 1:00 and the dedication will start at 2:00.
