The St. Paul Rodeo kicked off Tuesday and runs through July 5th, drawing cowboys and cowgirls from all over the world.  Arena Director Todd Koch said around $500,000 in prize money is up for grabs.

"We have like 750 contestants that’ll be competing here in the St. Paul Rodeo over the next five days," Koch said.

The annual event is a massive boon for this tiny Oregon farming town of around 400 full-time residents.

"We get between 10,000 people in the stadium, and then a few people running around in the fairgrounds on the outside; we get another few thousand there," Koch said.  "And it’s just almost overwhelming but we’ve been doing it here for 89 years, so I think we can handle it."

Prime time events are at 7:30 each evening … plus a 1:30 matinee on July Fourth.  Get tickets and more information by visiting the St. Paul Rodeo Website.
