Spring Wheat Numbers Continue To Look Good

The spring wheat crop continues to look really good.  For the second week in a row, 80% of that crop is rated in good to excellent condition.

"This is only the second time along with 2010, that we have seen spring what rated so highly this late in the season," said USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey.

He added the crop is racing along at this point.

"Spring wheat, nearly all headed across the north, 93%, well ahead of the 5-year average of 85% and last year's 89%."

Meanwhile, producers are cutting fairly poor winter wheat crop.

"Winter wheat harvest, approaching the 3/4, 74-percent nationally. We now see harvest a number of state complete in a number of states in the south including Arkansas, as well as Missouri and Oklahoma."
