Sonny Perdue’s official job title is Secretary of Agriculture and he heads the U.S. Department of Agriculture, but he describes himself as a “grow it and sell it guy.”

That means Perdue needs to be working on getting more U.S. agriculture out to the world.

“I’ve already developed a great relationship with our Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and will with the U.S. Trade Representative. Secretary Ross has already been engaged in several ag issues. We were discussing yesterday significant issues in the sugar industry. He wants to know more about NAFTA and our recommendations that way, so there’s going to be some interagency cooperation here that I don’t think we’ve seen before.”

Perdue says the U.S. does a great job growing great agriculture, so his job will be to go out and sell it.
