It was a unique and challenging end to winter for producers across the Northwest.  One of the industries hit the hardest, was livestock, with producers reporting cow and calf losses across the region.  And in early February dairies in the Yakima Valley reported the loss of hundreds of cows.  Despite the adversity, producers worked to overcome the hand dealt by Mother Nature.

Sarah Ryan, Executive Vice President of the Washington Cattlemen’s Association says she’s amazed at the tenacity shown by cattle producers.

“No matter what, they’re putting their livestock ahead of time with family, going to birthday parties, whatever it might be, and they’re working incredibly hard.”
