Trade negotiators from the U.S., Mexico and Canada are meeting in Arlington, VA this week for the fourth round of negotiations on NAFTA.

Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue will not be there as he he’s headed to the G7 Food and Agricultural Organization meeting, but before he headed overseas, he was asked whether agricultural issues such as dairy or timber will be brought up in these negotiations.

“That’s not my job, that’s the U.S. Trade Ambassador’s job. I know Ambassador Lighthizer will do a great job. We’ll begin putting issues on the table, I’m sure that he will. We’ve got some specific things that we want to address with Canada and Mexico but I’ll leave that to the Ambassador.”

Last week Perdue expressed his disappointment about negotiations were going saying that it was like two boxers circling at the beginning of a match.
