The holidays may be over, but the giving continues in the Beaver State.  The Ronald McDonald House and Oregon Potato Commission recently announced a partnership in which Farmers Ending Hunger will provide a monthly potato donation to guests.

Gary Roth, OPC Executive Director, said growers are givers.

“Farmers don't like to see other people go hungry," Roth pointed out.  "And so, the Farmers Ending Hunger program has been very active with growers in eastern Oregon and in the Willamette Valley for a long time. And this program fit in nicely with their efforts.”

Donation Will Also Highlight The Health Benefits Of Potatoes

Through the Farmers Ending Hunger Program, the Commission will provide Ronald McDonald House with 150 pounds of fresh potatoes each month through 2026 and beyond.

Roth added this partnership highlights not only the great potatoes grown locally, but also the health benefits of potatoes, adding spuds are low calorie and high in both vitamin C and potassium  He said the work the Ronald McDonald House does impacts so many lives across the entire state.

“There are many people that if they haven't had a personal experience, they have a family member or know someone who's had an experience with the Ronald McDonald House," Roth added.  "And I think that's a testimony to the service that they provide to families that have a loved one that need medical care. And they certainly have an appreciative audience.”
