A host of leaders from across the Northwest, and the country are set to wrap up their tour of the Columbia-Snake River dam system Friday.

Members of the Upper Mississippi Waterway Association, Iowa-based Riverview Tug Service, the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association, and several Northwest farm organizations have been touring the rivers this week.  The tour focused on the dams, and the important role they play not only in the Inland Northwest, but all the way to where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.  Stops during the weeklong tour included the Port of Longview, the Port of Vancouver, tours of Bonneville and Lower Granite Dams as well as tour of the Port of Lewiston.

Michelle Hennings Executive Director of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers said the focus of the tour is to grow and improve relationships between the two waterway systems, improving collaboration in D.C., as well as in individual state capitals.
