The J.R. Simplot Company announced Wednesday it has named G.Rey Reinhardt as President of the AgriBusiness Group.  Reinhardt will take over for Doug Stone who announced his retirement earlier this year.

"We are excited to announce G.Rey as the new head of Simplot AgriBusiness,” Simplot President and CEO Garrett Lofto said. “His extensive industry experience, familiarity with the business, exceptional leadership skills, and strategic mindset will be vital to the Company as we drive growth and work endlessly to exceed the expectations of our customers.”

Reinhardt has been with Simplot for six years.  He most recently served as Vice President of Business Development and Optimization for Simplot AgriBusiness where he and his team were responsible for the development and execution of strategic growth initiatives across all business segments.  Company officials said this included leading the group in acquisitions and partnerships, operational efficiency initiatives, offtake opportunities, and new product evaluations. In previous roles at Simplot, Reinhardt also served as Interim Vice President for Simplot AgriBusiness’ Mining and Manufacturing division, Interim General Manager of Jacklin Seed, and as Senior Director of Operations with the Company’s retail agriculture division, Simplot Grower Solutions.

"I’m honored and grateful for this opportunity and will dedicate myself to serving our customers, employees, and the company,” Reinhardt said. “Collectively, Simplot AgriBusiness will strive to fulfil our vision by operating as a customer-centric organization, rooted in phosphate expertise, while utilizing technology and innovation to help feed the world.”

Doug Stone retires after eight years with the company, but he will stay on to help in Reinhardt’s transition through the end of this year.

“We thank Doug for his leadership, dedication, and service to the Company and wish him a happy retirement,” Lofto noted. “G.Rey will step in with the experience and skills to help ensure a smooth transition and keep the positive momentum Doug and the Company have established.”

Prior to joining Simplot, Reinhardt was at Nutrien (formerly Agrium) for eleven years, where he served as Vice President of Retail Operations, Vice President of Operational Excellence, and led the Corporate Environmental Health, Safety and Security team, amongst other senior leadership roles. Before entering the agriculture industry, Reinhardt began his professional career in 2000 as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and served as an attorney in Boise, Idaho. He holds both a Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Idaho.
