Records, of both the good and bad variety, were the highlights of the USDA’s prospective plantings report that was released Friday.

 

Wheat acreage will go down to levels unseen since USDA began keeping records in the early 1900s, dropping eight percent compared to last year. Corn is also down four percent.

 

Record-high acreage for soybean growers this year is expected.

 

Stocks are up double-digits for corn and wheat in the U.S. Wheat is up 21 percent while corn is up 10 percent.
