President Voices Concerns over Canada’s Dairy Policies

Canada’s trade policies for U.S. dairy producers have come under heavy fire from the industry, and now President Trump is voicing his support.

“What’s happened to you is very unfair and we’re going to call Canada and we’re going to see what happened. They might give us an answer but we’re going to get the solution, not just the answer, ok. Cause we know what the solution is.”

Dairy exports to Canada have dropped dramatically due to new labeling laws and the dairy support system.

National Milk Producers Federation President Jim Mulhern said the solution is obvious.

“Stop the dairy industry there from taking these steps that have negative impacts, not only us but exporters all around the world.”

Australia and New Zealand have thrown their support behind the U.S. if there is action taken in the WTO.
