Trade negotiations between the United States and China continue this week in Washington DC.
"It's going extremely well. Who knows what that means because it only matters if we get it done, but we're very much working very closely with China and President Xi, who I respect a lot," said President Trump.
The President added he's optimistic about the progress made last week in Beijing.
"We're a lot closer than we ever were in this country with having a real trade deal. We covering everything, all the points that people have been talking about for years and said couldn't be done, whether it was theft or anything, the unfairness."
When asked about tariffs the President said, "If we could make the deal, it would be my honor to remove them."
U.S. duties on $20 billion worth of Chinese imports are set to rise if no deal is reached by March first.
