WSU and OSU wheat researchers have been out in the fields heavily this season because of the prevalence of stripe rust, but most of that has been concentrated in the Walla Walla and Pendleton areas.

 

In other areas, rust is less severe and ranges from 1-5 percent. The Palouse has seen rust earlier than it normally does, however.

 

Still, growers will want to be using fungicide along with their herbicide if they find or suspect stripe rust is in their field.
